STARK Group was founded in 2015 by a group of freelancers who frequently collaborated on Mercedes projects. We discovered we enjoyed working together and decided to join forces to create a more substantial and trustworthy company. Over time, we evolved from a freelance collective to a team of eight people focused on developing specialized software for other companies. Read the full CEO interview to learn more.
There is no "typical project" at STARK Group—that's by design. Our projects are consistently new, challenging, and often involve creating something that doesn't exist yet. The defining characteristic is that projects must be fun, new, and challenging for our developers. We don't have a standard product or specific industry focus, though the automotive sector is naturally strong in our region.
We start by completely dissecting the client's problem to get to its absolute roots, then build a solution from the ground up. Often, a client's initial idea is shaped by past software or assumptions. We move beyond preconceived notions to focus on what the ideal solution should look like for their company. We solve problems fundamentally, not with temporary fixes.
We see AI and machine learning as integral parts of software development, not standalone solutions. AI is a statistical tool that isn't inherently reproducible—you might get similar results, but not the exact same ones every time. For this reason, AI should never be a one-off solution. It can be a fantastic bridge technology, assisting employees by helping them understand problems or suggesting solutions they can refine. However, for anything requiring perfect accuracy, AI is the wrong tool.
We are fundamentally technology-agnostic—we don't care about a specific stack. Our focus is on the solution. We can integrate new solutions with existing systems, but for security reasons, we often find it more beneficial to rebuild legacy software on a modern stack. We also integrate cloud services and are backed by the Baden-Württemberg cloud, which provides immense scalability.
We don't have a preference for company size. Our clients range from two-person startups to global players like Mercedes, Aston Martin, and soon BMW, as well as medium-sized companies. The most important thing is that working with us is a partnership—it requires your time for validating ideas, checking results, and discussing any showstoppers.
You can send us an email, call us, or simply come to our office and knock on the door. We're always happy to make time for an initial consultation, which we offer for free to a certain extent. Our main office is located at Röhrer Weg 8, 71032 Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany (AI Express office building). We offer consulting in German and English, and can also cater to Russian, Spanish, and Farsi.
No, we are not formally affiliated with any other companies named STARK Group. STARK Group GmbH (IT Consulting, Germany) is completely independent from other STARK Group entities. We operate exclusively in IT consulting and software development.
